Heroes of the Long-Dead War. Exhibition based on materials from the museum funds
About 14,800 people went to the front from the Belozersk district over the four years of the Great Patriotic War.
The funds of the Belozersk Regional Museum of Local Lore contain documents and photographs associated with those who participated in that war. These materials were mainly handed over to the museum by relatives of the front-line soldiers.
The Heroes of the Long-Dead War online exhibition was created with the aim of posting information not only about the most prominent or famous front-line soldiers but about ordinary soldiers of this war since they all made a direct contribution to the Victory. The idea is also to give not just a list of last names and initials but photos of front-line soldiers and some information about them as well (time of conscription, participation in battles, awards, etc.).
A list of front-line soldiers from Belozersk was previously prepared and exhibited at the History of Belozersk Museum on the basis of materials from the museum collections. In 2019, when the information kiosk was installed in the Military Glory Hall, this list was transferred to electronic form making it possible to significantly expand it and now publish it in the Internet.
Unfortunately, information on not all front-line soldiers from Belozersk could be found. Only last names and initials are known about some of them. This list is being added and everyone can also participate in this activity.
We offer you to get acquainted with our exhibition and find your relatives and friends.
